Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has received Liesje Schreinemacher, minister of Foreign Trade and
Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, where they discussed boosting bilateral
trade and investments, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
The meeting focused on strengthening
industrial cooperation between the two countries, through establishing joint
projects in a number of priority sectors, including: pharmaceuticals,
agriculture, food security, renewable energy, transportation and logistics.
“We need to do more effort to further
scale up trade between Egypt and the Netherlands, which hit $1.759 billion in
2021, up 15.7% from a year earlier,” Samir said.
Schreinemacher, for her part, expressed
keenness of the Dutch business community to invest in Egypt, being one of the
major FDI destinations in the MENA region, noting that a trade mission will
visit Cairo next year to explore potential investment opportunities.
