confront the global economic fallout of the pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine

Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine
Gamea has met with Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana
Matić in the capital Belgrade. The minister is among the government delegation
accompanying President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who is currently visiting the
country.
The meeting discussed boosting cooperation
in the areas of industry, trade and tourism, as well as means to confront the global
economic fallout of the pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine war.
“There are ample opportunities for
mutual cooperation between Egypt and Serbia, mianly in developing SMEs, industrial
training, establishing logistic zones; in addition to agriculture, medical
supplies and IT,” Gamea said.
The two ministers also stressed the
need to bolster the role of the joint business council in a way that would
further double bilateral trade which stands at $79.7 million. In 2021, Egyptian
exports to the Serbian market amounted to $42.4 million and imports to $37.4
million.
Gamea, moreover, invited her
Serbian counterpart to visit Egypt and organize her country’s participation in
the next “Turathna” (Our Heritage) trade fair to be held in Cairo.
