Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has met with a delegation from Samsung Electronics Egypt, led by Chairman
ChoongKi Kwon, to discuss the company’s current projects and expansion plans in
the local market.
“We stand ready to offer all
support to domestic and foreign investments in Egypt and address the challenges
they may face, in cooperation with other ministries concerned,” Samir said,
stressing keenness to develop the infrastructure of industrial zones to attract
more capital in the sector.
Samsung Egypt, he noted, is a success
story and one of the most prominent projects in the country’s electronics
industry, playing a key role in deepening local manufacturing and creating
numerous job opportunities.
The minister further pointed out
that the Egyptian market holds great opportunity for Samsung to boost its
exports to Africa under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Samsung products make up a large proportion
of Egypt’s electronics exports. The company exports 85% of its production to
the markets of 50 countries in the Middle East, the Arab world, Africa and
Europe.
