Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has met with Stefan Wenzel, parliamentary state secretary at the German
Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate, on the margins of COP27
hosted by Egypt in the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The meeting explored current and
future cooperation projects, as well as the next German-Egyptian Joint Economic
Committee meetings that will address areas of mutual interest, including:
energy, trade, investment, customs, SMEs, training, technical and technological
cooperation.
“The government is looking forward
to more German capital in the local market, especially in the fields of
automotives, energy, digital transformation, recycling and waste management,”
Samir said, pointing to other green cooperation projects currently underway
between the two countries.
According to the ministry’s figures,
bilateral trade hit €5.1 billion
in 2021 and German investments in Egypt amounted to $2.9 billion in April.
