Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has met with Gerd Müller, director general of the United Nations
Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), on the sidelines of the UN climate
conference COP27 currently held in Sharm el-Sheikh.
The meeting discussed the UNIDO’s
key role in supporting the country’s inclusive and sustainable industrial
development, especially with regards to strategic planning and increased added
value of agricultural production.
“We are hopeful of more cooperation
with the UNIDO to boost Egypt’s manufacturing sector and the competitiveness of
its products both on local and foreign markets,” Samir said, pointing to successful
cooperation projects in the fields of renewable energy, green trade and energy
efficiency.
