Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir has met with Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, head of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the sidelines of 48th Arab Labor Conference held in Cairo, to discuss developing economic and investment relations between Egypt and Qatar.

The meeting was attended by Alaa Ezz, secretary-general of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Yahya Al-Wathiq Billah, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service.

"The business communities in the two countries play a key role in enhancing mutual cooperation, making joint investments and creating new jobs," Samir said, stressing the importance of exchanging views and coordination between business organizations on both sides to draw up a comprehensive framework for the investment opportunities available in both markets.

According to official figures, bilateral trade grew 84.3% in 2021 from a year earlier, and Qatari investments in the local market amounted to $121.8 million in the first quarter of FY 2021/22.
