The cooperation protocol aims to
boost Egypt’s economic growth, by improving the quality of products and
enhancing their competiveness on local and international markets.

The General Organization for Import
and Export Control (GOEIC) and the Technology and Innovation Industrial Council-
both affiliates of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)- have signed a
cooperation protocol to enhance technical cooperation and exchange expertise in
the field of examination and laboratory tests in the governorates of Cairo, Guiza,
Alexandria, Damietta and Sharqia.
The agreement was signed by Essam al-Naggar,
head of the GOEIC, and Ahmed Reda, assistant minister of trade and industry for
industrial affairs and supervisor of the MTI’s technology centers.

Al-Naggar pointed out that the
ministry is carrying out a plan to develop governmental chemical, physical and
mechanical testing laboratories and qualify them for ISO 17025 accreditation.
