Minister of Trade and Industry
Nevine Gamea has met with Algerian Minister of Industry Ahmed Zeghdar and Minister
of Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig, while visiting the capital Algiers
to participate in the 8th session of the Algerian-Egyptian Grand Joint
Committee.
The meeting explored means of
deepening mutual cooperation in the areas of trade, industry and investment,
and most notably know-how transfer from Egypt in the establishment of
industrial parks and free zones.
They also discussed enhancing the
role of the Egyptian-Algerian business council in a way that would advance
bilateral ties.
According to official data, trade
between the two African countries hit $787 million in 2021, up 5.5% from a year
earlier; Algerian investments in the local market stand at $54.6 million in the
sectors of manufacturing, tourism,
services, construction, agriculture, communications and IT.
