The ‘Made in Africa’ initiative, proposed by Egypt, aims at

implementation of the COMESA Industrial Strategy.

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), at a
meeting of industry experts from COMESA region, has approved Egypt’s initiative
to strengthen industrial integration among member states and mandated the
COMESA Secretariat with its implementation, Minister of Trade and Industry
Nevine Gamea has announced.
The ‘Made in Africa’ initiative, proposed by the government of
Egypt, aims at attaining comprehensive industrial integration and provides a
roadmap for the implementation of the COMESA Industrial Strategy and its
attendant Action Plan.
The virtual meeting was chaired by the Ministry of Trade and
Industry, represented by head of the Egyptian commercial office in the Zambian
capital Lusaka, with the participation of member countries, along with representatives
of the Egyptian embassy in Lusaka, as well as the ministry’s affiliates: the Industrial
Modernization Center, Industrial Development Authority and the Trade Agreements
Sector.
