Within the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s efforts in implementing the economic reform policy of the state, the Industrial Training Council (ITC) was established in 2006 to supervise all the ministry’s technical and vocational training programs and activities, and to coordinate between them with the aim of increasing their effectiveness and linking them to the needs of the different industrial sectors, and to maximize the utilization of the available resources. The ITC aims to link training to the needs of the labor market in order to provide adequate job opportunities for the youth, as well as raising efficiency and enhancing the performance of the Egyptian labor force and establishing a sustainable work mechanism for training for qualification and employment, where this mechanism is to be built on the real needs of the industry, as well as creating a work mechanism to encourage private sector to demand technical and vocational training that satisfies the real needs of the companies, with the aim of developing the performance levels of the industrial and commercial firms, and raising their competitiveness on the national and international levels and maximizing its competitiveness edge. The ITC implements many national projects and programs, which work on strengthening the business initiatives and encouraging youth to engage in self-employment. The ITC is also committed to implementing projects concerned with developing women, solving their problems, and developing them scientifically, socially and economically. Moreover, the ITC is implementing projects that stress on the notion of social inclusion for the most needy societal groups with special needs and from the most marginalized geographical regions.
