Cairo- Dec 27, 2022
Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has presided over the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC)
board meeting that discussed means to ensure the availability of low-priced staples
on the market especially ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting stressed commitment of
all chambers of commerce across the country to securing an abundant stock of
goods at affordable prices, and guaranteeing no unjustified hikes are added.
Samir pointed to the latest
measures by the government and the Central Bank of Egypt to clear large
quantities of imported commodities and production supplies worth over $5
billion.
The move, he said, would help boost
production rates at food factories, thus increasing the amount of commodities
available on the market to meet domestic needs.
The minister further added that
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly had instructed that the “Welcome Ramadan” fair
be held in January in all governorates to allow citizens to buy their needs at
reduced prices.
