Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has met with Singaporean Ambassador to Egypt Dominic Goh, where
they discussed topics of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting reviewed success
stories of Singaporean companies operating in the local market, especially in
the fields of fertilizers, food, agroindustry and plastics, and shed the light
on a potential project for fertilizer production in the Suez Canal Economic
Zone.
“The ministry is working hard to
improve the business climate in Egypt and create an investment-conducive
environment,” Samir said, stressing its commitment to find solutions to
obstacles facing investors.
According to figures,
Egypt-Singapore trade doubled in 2021 to reach $677 million, growing 120% from
a year earlier, with exports to the major Asian market amounting to $505
million. Singaporean investments in Egypt stand at $175 million in 33 projects,
spanning the areas of agriculture, manufacturing, services, IT and tourism.
