Cairo- Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar met with a delegation from the World Bank led by Najy Benhassine, practice director for the group’s finance, competitiveness and innovation.
The meeting discussed the $500-million urban development program undertaken by the bank in Upper Egypt, which includes improving the infrastructure of 6 industrial parks in Qena and Sohag.
The two sides also explored cooperation in automating government bodies, developing competition protection policies and promoting energy efficiency in coordination with the Industrial Development Authority, Competition Protection Agency, and Technology and Innovation Industrial Council respectively.
The minister pointed to the financing schemes offered by the bank to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Egypt, which contribute to job creation and better living standards.
